On Monday, upper school Arabic students visited the Freer/Sackler Gallery of Art’s exhibit: The Art of the Qur’an: Treasures from the Museum of Turkish and Islamic Arts. The exhibit included fifty manuscripts from Herat to Istanbul. Students observed the calligraphy and lavish illumination. The manuscripts range in date from the early eighth to the seventeenth century. They were once the possessions of Ottoman sultans and the ruling elite.
