Eighth grade students took part in a historical simulation to show the fallibility of eye witness accounts. The students worked in two teams to understand varied accounts of the Boston Tea Party. They summarized the sources, analyzed key details that would help them figure out what actually happened, and then compared the details their peers paraphrased from the text to corroborate or refute aspects of each account. Students evaluated the challenges necessary to assemble a historically reliable account of these events based on eyewitnesses.
