Dedicated Debaters
This weekend the varsity policy debaters traveled to Mamaroneck, New York for the Fall Faceoff at Mamaroneck HS. Students debated the immigration topic for five rounds over a period of two days in a national tournament. Eighth graders Brandon Souverain and Maxwell Burton, and D’Andre Person and Jackson Lewis each won one out of their five rounds. They were the only middle schoolers at the tournament, competing against students who were several years older.

Music to Our Ears
Washington Latin’s choir performed “Carol of the Bells” for the Mix 107.3 concert The choir is in the running to win $5000 for the school music department. Ms. Nevola helped students record their performance, which includes students in the Honors Choir in the performance.
Air Force Careers Take Flight
On December 10, a dozen students will accompany Ms. Foster to Andrews Air Force Base. These students attended the “Beyond These Walls” sessions held in October focusing on the military and expressed interest in learning more about life in the military. Andrews Air Force Base was closed on Wednesday, December 5 for the funeral of former President Bush so the trip needed to be rescheduled for Friday. Attendants included David Stapleton, William Monti, Vladimir Zadorojny, Jakai McIlwain , Hennok Woldu , Ifeoluwa Akinsanya, Caroline Watterson, Jania Clare, JaNei Leftwich, Antoine Wallace, Addison Johnson, Kemari Bolden, Xondra Barnes, and Tyrica Miller
