Ms. Brady’s freshman English class visited the African Arts Museum after completing the book Things Fall Apart by Chinua Achebe. The story focuses on life in late nineteenth century Nigeria before and after the demise of colonialism. Later in the week sophomores visited the Holocaust Museum. The tenth graders had studied about Europe during World War II in their history classes, and many had completed the novel The Book Thief by Markus Zusak about a young girl in Germany whose foster parents are hiding a Jewish man who inspires her to steal books the Nazis wish to burn.
