Thirteen upper school students attended an event hosted by the Aspen Institute, featuring Admiral Mullen, former Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff. Mr. Hagerty brought the group, composed primarily of juniors and seniors, to hear about national security issues, from Admiral Mullen, other administrators, and national security reporters. The event, in DuPont Circle in late November, focused on such topics including appointment choices being made by the president-elect. The discussion also included security issues related to China, Russia and ISIS.  Upper school students also learn about current events and international relations through organizations like Model UN, Debate Team, Qatar Foundation International, and classroom activities.
