Read about what is happening at Latin!

Foreign Shores Beckon
On September 26, organizations that support foreign travel like AFS will host an event focused on study abroad opportunities for Latin students. Current students who took time to study abroad in Asia, Europe, and the Middle East will speak with their peers about the various opportunities available in places like China, Japan, India, Morocco, and Qatar. Because of the Foreign Language department’s emphasis on language immersion, students often look to build their language skills by visiting other countries or participating in several week foreign language immersions at universities in the United States. On October 26, there will be a session focused on gap year opportunities. A few graduates from 2016 are taking gap years to travel after deferring college admission for a year.

College Crash Course
Saturday and Sunday Ms. Latham will host the second round of Application Boot Camp for seniors. The event will take place in the College Counseling Suite and will feature assistance from English teachers on the college essay, information about applying for financial aid, organizational tools for completing and monitoring application, and help with creating an online resume. The application boot camp is also held during the summer, and students can come to the college counseling suite for additional help on essays every Tuesday at lunch or in 234 on Thursdays after school.
