Dynamic Duo

Musical mavens and Washington Latin alumni Nate Crystal (Class of ‘18) and Eowyn Sherrer ( Class of ‘17) both perform music together in New York City venues during college. Nate is going into his senior year at Pace University, and Eowyn just graduated. When they were in high school Eowyn performed with the Jazz Band, and Nate played Usnavi in the school production of In the Heights. We are so happy to see our alumni continuing to make beautiful music together.

Faculty Frisbee Flourishes

It has been the tradition to hold an annual Student vs. Faculty ultimate game and Thursday the faculty triumphed with the assistance of many college-aged alumni who joined the faculty team. Thanks to coaches Yonker, Hultgren, Starnes, and O’Brien for rallying such a vibrant squad of former students to lead the faculty to victory!

Arts on Display

Wednesday was the first in-person Art Show since 2019. Students in both Ms. Malchionno and Ms. Coleman’s class displayed their work in the MPR, showcasing the varied media and styles students learned in art this year.

On the Road For DC History

Ms. Grant took sections of DC History on a walking tour of U Street and to the MLK library on Friday, May 13. Other stops included Ben’s Chili Bowl and other historical spots along the way. Students also visited a Metro PCS store in Shaw that has been playing go-go music since 1995.  The trip gives a taste of the history and culture of the U Street area and explains how the area has developed and changed over the last 60 years.

Government Has its Day in Court

Mr. Liu’s government classes interviewed the U.S. Attorney and Deputy U.S. Attorney for the District of Columbia, FBI Agents and a U.S. Marshall and a DC Superior Court Judge. They observed a trial at the DC Superior Court. The hosts had volunteered earlier this year in the DC Circuit Historical Society Mock Court Program. They all said that our students asked great questions and really enjoyed meeting them.
