The Latino Heritage Club is hosting a movie night on Wednesday, November 14 to view the animated film “Coco,” a fantasy movie about El Dia De Los Muertos, traditionally celebrated the first day of November. Proceeds from the event will go to an orphanage in Honduras through the CARE organization. The club will collect school supplies, including lightly used backpacks, and also sell snacks and henna decorations to raise additional money. Tickets for the event cost $3 in advance and $5 at the door.
On Wednesday the 7th the Music Department will host the 8th Annual Fall Concert! Located in the MPR, the concert starts at 7, and will until 8:15. Featured songs include Handel’s Messiah, “Ain’t No Sunshine” by Bill Withers and “Signed, Sealed, and Delivered” by Stevie Wonder.

With eyes on the midterm elections, sixth grade civics teacher Mr. Staten’s class explored all the most exciting senate races, looking at historical trends about the midterm elections. Mr. Staten gave his own predictions for races in Texas, Tennessee, Arizona, Nevada, and Missouri.
Mr. Liu’s Government class will visit the DC Charter School Council Day 2018 at the DC City Council building on Nov. 13. The event is hosted by FOCUS, the principal advocate for DC public charter schools. Students will attend a City Council meeting and and speak with City Council committee staff and members to discuss issues relating to school facilities, mental health issues, and transportation.
The middle school girls soccer team plays Wednesday, at 4:00pm vs EL Haynes at Latin, with another game November 14 at 4:00pm vs Lincoln at Tubman Elementary. If they win the tournament for the DC Scores Playoffs on Friday, November 16. Meanwhile, upper school girls soccer will play Sidwell Friends at 2:45 on Tuesday, the 6th.
