TRAVEL
Learning Off-Campus
Field trips – opportunities for students and teachers to leave campus to explore a place, take in a theatre performance, or visit an exhibition – are essential elements of our program at Latin. In addition to local trips to DC’s many museums and monuments, we work to include meaningful travel opportunities to explore beyond the District. Such trips include spring break travel to other countries, including China, Morocco, and Italy, associated with our Latin and World Languages programs. Regional trips to explore the natural world often include overnight stays, such as our annual adventure to a 4-H camp in Maryland. We construct each trip to complement our curriculum, exploring essential questions such as how overcoming hardship is integral to the American character.
These trips are funded in part by our families, paid as fees, and supplemented as needed by the school. It is our policy and practice to ensure that all students may participate fully in our program, regardless of their families’ financial situation. Donors support this concept with gifts to the Equal Access Fund. Please see below for information about a variety of travel experiences offered in this school year. Your donations to the Equal Access Fund are welcome. Any questions about donations can be directed to Kate Cromwell, Director of Communications & Engagement.

Overnight Trips
Local Trips
Music Trips
Latin is fortunate to have an excellent music program, including student choirs and a jazz band, led by Director Melissa Vercammen. An active performer herself, Ms. Vercammen expects students to treat their performances professionally and likewise makes sure they have opportunities to meet with professional musicians and perform off-campus, including Carnegie Hall and the New Orleans jazz scene. To learn more or make a donation to the Music Program, visit the Music page.
Spring Break Trips
Spring break travel opens up opportunities to visit other countries like China, Morocco, France, and Italy, associated with our Latin and World Languages programs. In addition, we also offer a Civil Rights trip, based in the US.
