Lifetime Language Learner

Class of 2014 graduate Eliana Duran earned a third place finish in the Washington, D.C./Maryland/Virginia “Jiangsu Cup Chinese Speech Competition” finals. As a prize for her language skill, she won a full summer Mandarin language immersion trip in Nanjing, Jiangsu Province. The theme was “most memorable experience while learning Chinese or traveling in China,” and Eliana spoke about traveling to China on Washington Latin’s 2013 spring break,when she happened to discover her name scrawled on the Great Wall and felt a sense of destiny with China and Chinese studies. Duran is a senior at American University, minoring in Chinese.

Soccer Stars!

The Boys and Girls soccer teams repeated their success in the championship game of the Public Charter School Athletic Association. The girls defeated Capital City Charter School 7-0 on Monday, while the boys defended their crown Tuesday with a 2-1 win over Paul Public charter school. Next up for both teams will be the State Championships. We can’t wait to see them hit their #soccergoals!
