Read to hit the back to school sales? Here is the list of everything we ask students to bring to school for the 2026-27 school year at our Cooper Campus!
While you of course have the option to gather school supplies on your own, we understand that it can be a hassle to shop around for all supplies!! This year Cooper Campus is offering families the opportunity to purchase grade-specific Supply Bundles through MySchool Bucks! For students taking higher level math courses, we also have a calculator add-on that you may purchase if/as needed.
As always, if your family is able to contribute anything towards the cost of a supply bundle for another family (or families), please do not hesitate to donate to our Equal Access Fund to support families who might benefit!
5th Grade: Fifth grade is an important transitional time as students begin middle school. In order to introduce organizational skills, we have a color-coded system for each subject.

6th Grade: At this stage in their academic career, many students are still developing an organizational system. While we know that not all students will benefit from the same strategy, there are some tried and true methods that we prefer students adopt. In that vein, the sixth grade teachers continue with the color-coding of the fifth grade, while introducing and teaching students how to successfully use binders and notebooks for organization.

The seventh grade teachers continue with the color-coding of the fifth and sixth grades, while teaching students how to clean out their binders after each unit and how to safely file important materials and save them for final exams. Please note that our single-subject binder requirements are intentional. Please do not allow your child to have only one large binders with multiple subjects. Each class will require multiple sections of a binder and using only one or two large binders leads to disorganization and “exploding” binders and bookbags!

Our objective in eighth grade is to prepare students for the rigors of high school. We continue with the color-coding of the rest of the middle school, while giving students some freedom with their choices and gradually lifting some of the organizational requirements as students experiment with their own systems. Still, we ask that you do not allow your child to have only one or two large binders with multiple subjects. Each class will require multiple sections of a binder and using only one or two large binders leads to disorganization.

As students enter into the high school phase of their education journey, we want to honor their growing independence while also providing structure and guidance as needed, to help ensure their all-around success. Some students may have, by this time, truly honed their organizational skills and practices, while others may continue to need external support. While we will not be as prescriptive with their organizing guidelines, we ask that you consistently and continuously check in with your student about their backpacks, assignments, and grades, to ensure that the system they adopt is actually effective for them.

By tenth grade, students should be refining and consistently applying the organizational habits they have developed throughout middle school and their first year of high school. Rather than focusing on a prescribed organizational system, we expect students to take ownership of maintaining materials, meeting deadlines, and managing long-term assignments across multiple courses. Our goal is for students to build the independence, responsibility, and self-management skills that will prepare them for the increasing demands of the upper high school years.
