Why do we have summer math assignments?
Students have been working hard in math throughout the school year, but there is always more math to discover. Our middle school courses move quickly beginning in 6th grade, and students who enter each course with a solid grasp of necessary prerequisite skills are better prepared to access the curriculum.
Are the math summer assignments required?
Yes, the assignments are required for all rising 6th, 7th, and 8th grade students who will be taking math courses up through Algebra 1. Rising 8th graders who will be taking Geometry will receive their summer assignment separately.
How do I access these summer math assignments?
These assignments are housed on Google Classroom. Your student has already received either an email invitation to the Google Classroom that matches his/her math course for next school year. The summer assignment is posted on the main course page; students should click on the assignment and from there they will be directed to DeltaMath to begin working.
How long will it take my child to complete their assignment?
Estimated times for students to complete the entire assignment are listed on the chart below. Please note that these times are only a rough estimate and will vary from student to student.
Do you have a paper copy of these assignments?
Yes. Paper copies of these assignments will be available for pickup at the front desk at the 2nd Street Campus.
Who should I contact if I need help or if my child is really struggling with the assignment?
For any general questions or for help supporting your student, email Ms. Pall at epall@latinpcs.org.

This summer, math resources are available to help support and further students’ learning as they prepare for next year. We want to ensure they don’t suffer from “summer slide,” where students can lose much of your math knowledge and then are behind for next year. The summer math resources are designed to help students review and reinforce concepts they already know and prepare them for next year’s math class.
Please find instructions below for summer math resources for Upper School courses.
The work will be due on the first day of school.
