ANNOUNCEMENT: Summer reading is due on Day 1 of 2026-27 school year! Read on to learn about required assignments and optional reading and other resources!

  • 6th: The Epic Fail of Arturo Zamora
  • 7th: The Boy Who Harnessed the Wind
  • 8th: Long Way Down
  • 9th: The Alchemist
  • 10th: Lord of the Flies (English 10); The Gettysburg Address 1984 (AP Language)

Some notes!

  • Every Cooper student will receive a copy of their summer reading in the last days of school, with their name written inside. Replacement books should be purchased by the family, if needed. 
  • New Cooper students may pick up their summer books at the Cooper Campus before July 24. 
  • This reading is REQUIRED. Students should read the books and be able to discuss the reading in their English classes at the start of the school year.
  • Choice reading lists will also be available for those ready to read beyond what’s required. Stay tuned!
