MAGIS – Latin’s Aftercare Program

Share

EXPLAINER: MAGIS is Latin’s in-house afterschool program for Middle School students.

  • At 2nd Street, MAGIS offers a place for homework, reading, and board games.
  • At Cooper, MAGIS includes a range of programs that includes creative writing and other arts, homework help, etc.

At both campuses, MAGIS runs from dismissal until 6:00 pm every Monday through Thursday, but not on Fridays*, half days, or school holidays. We do not offer before-school care, but students may arrive as early as 7:40 am. Families can pick up their children anytime before 6:00 pm.

At both campuses, the MAGIS program is an in-house program, staffed with Latin faculty.

Important: Timely Pick-up!

We do ask for additional payment from families when they arrive to pick up after 6:00 pm! While we understand that delays happen, we also ask that families respect our faculty time. Any pick up after 6:05 will result in a $5 per minute charge to the family.

Registration

Students can be signed up for the full year, all week OR a more tailored approach. We open registration in sessions that more or less match the athletic seasons. Families can sign up for a single day each week, or every day. Drop-in costs more: $25 per day instead of about $13 per day.

The options offered at Cooper may vary somewhat from session to session.

Registration opens for the school year in August; session registration opens a couple weeks before the start of the session. Note that we do not run out of space and have to date been able to accommodate all students whose families request MAGIS. We will just add more capacity, if more students have the need.

Registration and payment both happen through MySchoolBucks. Please see our MySchoolBucks Explainer to learn about signing up for this fee payment system – everything from MAGIS, to field trips, to lunchs – and more!

Costs

The cost per day is approximately $15 for students registered for a full session or more.

Drop-in rate is $25/day.

MAGIS is reduced rate for families who qualify for Free & Reduced Meals (you can complete this FARMs form in English or in Spanish to receive this and other fee reductions or waivers).
