Classical for All
The Classical for All Campaign supports our expansion with the Anna Julia Cooper Campus in northeast DC, increasing access to a classical education for the modern world to DC families.
Increasing Access
Twenty years ago, Washington Latin was founded with the mission of providing a classical education for the modern world, accessible to any DC resident as a public charter school. Since then, we’ve seen remarkable success, with high academic achievement and demand for our unique model that far outstrips our capacity.

Our leadership and board decided to expand, considering it a moral imperative in a city with too few quality options for middle and high school. Expansion has provided the opportunity to reach students from all backgrounds and provide supports that close historic opportunity gaps among students of color, those with disabilities, and English language learners.
The Anna Julia Cooper Campus
After years of planning and with permission for expansion from the DC Public Charter School Board, the Anna Julia Cooper Campus opened in temporary space in the fall of 2022, serving students in grades 5 and 6. The campus is led by a seasoned Washington Latin administrator, Khashiffa Roberts, whose brings a deep knowledge of classical education and expertise in special education. We are adding a grade each year until we reach our full complement of grades 5-12, doubling the number of seats available by 2028.

Our education is elite,

but not elitist.

The Classical for All Campaign
Our Classical for All Campaign supports the expansion of our Cooper Campus, making a Washington Latin education accessible to more students. In the fall of 2025, the Cooper Campus will have a new, permanent facility and launch its Upper School. This is a critical moment, and we invite you to join us. Your support will directly impact our ability to provide a worldclass education to more DC students.

This expansion requires support from partners like you.
Help us close the final culminating phase of the Classical For All Campaign. Invest in DC education and make a lasting impact.
A donor may choose to make a pledge and leadership will gladly work to design a plan that is best for each donor. Gifts of cash and securities are welcome, and leadership is happy to discuss a planned or legacy gift. Please make checks payable to Washington Latin Public Charter Schools. Please direct any questions to Ewing Moussa, Director of Development.
Other Ways to Support
The Paver Campaign
Washington Latin is offering donors an exciting opportunity to leave a lasting legacy on the physical structure of the new Cooper Campus through the Washington Latin Paver Campaign.
The Cooper Library Campaign
The centerpiece of our new facility will be the Washington Latin Cooper Campus Library, an open, sunlit space, providing a stunning and welcoming environment for students and faculty. The library will include a reading area, independent research space, and discussion area designed for the Socratic seminars that are a central element of the Latin education across all subjects.
The Hunter Rawlings Reading Room
From his first visit to the school, Dr. Hunter Rawlings, President Emeritus of Cornell University, saw the value of Washington Latin’s vision of a classical education for the modern world. The Hunter Rawlings Reading Room will provide a space for a new generation to become enthralled with the classics – and to bring a new and unique perspective to their study.
