During the week of November 2-6, the Cooper Campus will be hosting Spirit Week, leading up to the Homecoming Dance on November 6 for 9th and 10th graders!
We are excited to share that the Upper School students have voted on this year’s Homecoming theme and have picked “A Night in Hollywood.”
We will have a week of festivities with an Upper School Homecoming Spirit Week, all leading up to the Homecoming dance which will take place Friday, November 6 from 6 to 9pm in the Theater.
SPIRIT WEEK DETAILS BELOW!
Monday, 11/2: Denim On Denim
Wear your favorite denim, such as denim jackets, jeans, a skirt, or an all-denim outfit.
Tuesday, 11/3: Rhyme Without Reason
Grab a partner and get creative: This is a duo-dress up day where you and a friend dress as two things that rhyme but have no connection to one another.
Wednesday, 11/4: We Wear Pink
Inspired by the iconic movie “Mean Girls,” this day is all about pink! Wear your favorite pink clothing item and show off your best pink look.
Thursday, 11/5: Dress-Down Day
Since 9th and 10th graders have field trips planned for this day, this will be just a “regular” dress down day. Remember to dress according to the weather and your comfort.
Friday, 11/6: A Day in Hollywood
To celebrate our theme, A Night in Hollywood, create your own version of California life. You can dress like a Hollywood celebrity walking the red carpet, a movie star off duty, or an everyday LA local. Whether you’re going for glam, casual California style, or a celebrity, make it your own!
Friday, November 6 – Homecoming Dance
Student tickets will be $12 in advance and $15 at the door. You will be able to purchase tickets for your child(ren) through MySchoolBucks.
All students will be required to have a Parent/Guardian complete a safety contract by Monday, November 2. Failure to have a signed safety contract will prevent your child(ren) from entering the dance.
Each student will have the opportunity to bring one non-Latin guest. In order for guests to be admitted, their student host will be required to complete a guest invitation form by Monday, November 2. This expectation has already been shared with students, but please feel free to remind them, if they intend to invite a guest.
NOTA BENE: Guests must be currently enrolled in high school in the DC metro area and must follow the same rules as Washington Latin students. Guest tickets will be $15 and can be purchased in advance through the same MySchoolBucks link.
Fairy Godmother’s Closet – How you can support
Check out the Fairy Godmother’s Closet for our 9th and 10th graders to go thrifting for their Homecoming Dance attire! If you have any lightly used dresses, slacks, jackets, shirts, skirts or shoes you can part with, we’d welcome your donations! Start getting those items out of your closet so you can donate them to ours! Drop them off at the front desk. Thank you for your support!
