2nd Street Community Food Pantry

Share

We have opened a food pantry at 2nd Street for any members of our Latin community facing food insecurity, and could use more donations before spring break. Read more about how to contribute to the pantry.

How can I contribute to the pantry?

As we approach spring break, we would greatly appreciate any donations you can provide to stock our shelves so that we may distribute to families before our week away from school. Anyone interested in donating may do so at morning drop-off or afternoon pick-up at each school entrance. You may also use the Amazon Wishlist in the link below.

Suggested goods:

  • Hygiene items: deodorant, soap, toothpaste
  • Jasmine rice
  • Canned tuna and chicken
  • Maseca corn flour (or similar)
  • Corn tortillas
  • Cooking oil
  • Dried beans ( black, kidney, lentils )
  • Dry creal
  • Oatmeal
  • Pancake Mix
  • Pancake syrup
  • Applesauce
  • Cake mix
  • Shelf-stable milk
  • Snacks ( mall pringle cans, granola bars, fruit snacks etc.)

How can I access the pantry?

The food pantry will be on open on every Thursday from 3:15 – 6:00 pm (while supplies last) in the MPR foyer. It will be available to any member of the Latin community, including faculty, who feels they are in need of supplemental pantry supplies; there is no other verification needed!

Families can choose a pre-packed bag of common essentials (pasta, rice, tortillas, canned meats, canned tomatoes, canned vegetables and fruits, breakfast cereal or oats, granola bars etc.)  OR families can select their most-needed items from the pantry. One bag per family per week.

If you have any questions about the pantry or would like additional information, please contact food@latinpcs.org.
