Youth Empowerment Seminar Fundraiser to End Homelessness

Share

The 2nd Street 6th grade Youth Empowerment Seminar class is running a raffle fundraiser to help fight homelessness. We are opening up ticket sales to families who want to purchase tickets!

We have raised over $200(!) in just a few days of selling tickets! Here is the kicker: We have a parent whose employer will triple any money we raise in this fundraiser! We hope you can support the effort of our students, as they are very excited about this! A few more details:

What you can win

The winner of the raffle will win 30% of the money made from ticket sales, and the 2nd and 3rd place winners will each get a $15 Visa gift card! Right now, the kids have raised around $200 in ticket sales, so the winner would take home $60 if the raffle ended today! Luckily, there is still time to buy tickets and get that first prize number even higher!

Purchasing tickets

Tickets are $1 each, or $3 for 5 tickets, or $10 for 12 tickets.

  • We will be selling tickets using cash after school on Tuesday and Wednesday (October 28th-29th).
  • You can also use CashApp or Venmo by sending payment to Mr. Joe Green (one of the class’s teachers), who will in turn donate all procedes to the organization.
    • CashApp is $DJGreenbean
    • Venmo is @JoeGreenDC.
  • Please include your child’s name, grade, and their advisor in the “Note” or “What’s this for?” section.

Can I donate without buying tickets?

Of course, that would be amazing! In that case, please write “Donation” in the memo of your CashApp/Venmo transaction.

Where do our donations go?

All remaining proceeds will be donated to an organization called the Washington Legal Clinic for the Homeless, which provides legal support to people experiencing homelessness and poverty as well as pursues policy solutions to help eliminate homelessness and housing insecurity in DC.
