Middle and Upper School Winter Sports Registration for both campuses of Washington Latin for both competitive and non-competitive options opened Friday, October 24 at 3:00 pm and will remain open through Friday, November 7, 2025 at 8:00 pm!

Registration for winter sports at both campuses of Washington Latin is now opened as of Friday, October 24. With offerings like indoor track and field, wrestling, basketball, and fencing (NEW!) there are numerous options for athletic involvement. For more information about all the winter teams – including coaches, preseason, tryouts, and regular season practice schedules – please see below. Below that you will find the registration information.

Any student not able to attend the tryouts should contact Bob Eleby El (belebyel@latinpcs.org), Director of Athletics.

Upper School Teams (grades 9-12)

Wellness Classes

All Upper School students must complete at least four sports credits to graduate. Eighth grade students must complete two seasons of sport or wellness, and 7th grade students must complete one sport credit. Please note that class sizes are limited to ensure quality instruction and equitable access. Registration is first come, first served. If space is not available this winter, additional wellness offerings will be available during the spring seasons.

Once enrolled, students are expected to attend all scheduled class sessions to receive credit (exceptions may be granted by the Athletic Department). Students seeking credit from an outside entity must receive prior approval from the Athletic Department.

Registration Details

Winter sports registration will once again take place through the Arbiter Sports platform.

  • Registration opens: Friday, October 24, 2025 at 3:00 PM
  • Registration closes: Friday, November 7, 2025 at 8:00 PM
  • No late registrations will be accepted after the deadline to ensure fairness for all participants.

Important Reminders

All student-athletes must be registered through Arbiter Sports before participating in any team activity, including practices, conditioning, workouts, and tryouts.

Team-specific information such as coach contacts, tryout dates, and practice schedules are posted on the Athletics page of this website. Game schedules will be added to the team calendars once finalized.

No additional documents are required beyond the online registration. Once you’ve submitted your form, you will receive a confirmation email from Arbiter Sports.

Upper School Eligibility Requirements (Grades 9–12)

To participate, each student-athlete must meet the following criteria:

  1. Registration – A parent or guardian must complete the full Arbiter Sports registration.
  2. Physical Examination – A current District of Columbia Universal Health Certificate must be on file with the school. The student must be cleared to participate in competitive sports.
  3. Academic Eligibility – Student-athletes must maintain a minimum 2.0 GPA and be in good behavioral standing. Students who fall below expectations may be allowed to practice, but will not be eligible to compete.
  4. Residency Requirement – Students must meet residency requirements as defined in DCMR, Chapter 27.
