EXPLAINER: The PFA is Latin’s version of the PTA including all parents, guardians, and faculty. Each campus has a PFA which operates independently and holds join events.
The PFA is a great way for parents and guardians to be involved in the activities of Latin and support our shared community.
What does the PFA do?
- Hosts events to bring parents, families, and faculty together
- Supports family fundraising, especially Latin Pride
- Funds grants for extra instructional materials for teachers
- Communicates information to parents through the Grade Reps
- Supports families with services – online directory, planners for new 5th graders, graduation signs for seniors, used uniform sale, emergency assistance, etc.
Where does the PFA get its money? Are there dues?
Our budget comes through our Latin Pride annual campaign each Fall, which provides important funding to the school to sustain the general operating elements of Latin – small classes, excellent faculty, and a warm community. There are no dues or fees to participate in events or activities.
How can I help?
And what if I can only help sometimes or a little bit?
- Volunteer to help with PFA events
- Share your questions, concerns, or good ideas with your grade’s representatives.
- Join the Executive Committee as an officer or grade representative
- Officers: President, Vice President, Treasurer, and Secretary
- Grade representatives: one to two for each operating grade on campus
