Used Uniform Sales

Partager

Each campus gathers gently used uniforms, donated by current families, for a single big back-to-school sale. Read on to learn about this collaborative effort between the campus Parent-Faculty Association (PFA) and the Latin team (especially Family Engagement).

These annual sales offer a great way to save money on uniforms, and honestly everybody shops this sale! Note that we do not have a used uniform STORE, just the annual sale – so be sure to mark your calendars for these events!

Where do we get the uniforms?

Have uniform items that your child has outgrown (or just does not wear)? Donate those in good shape to the used uniform sale all year! You may bring clean and gently used uniforms to the front office of either campus. We store them up for the sale, and also take a few for school use (such as when a child spills on their shirt and needs to borrow one for the day).

Over the summer, parent and student volunteers work with Family Engagement to sort items by type and size, washing as needed, to get the stock ready for sale. Items that are not sellable (stained, torn, or just worn out) are removed and donated. This process usually happens in August.

When are these sales?

Usually, each campus has a sale the weekend before school starts. It may also be the week of school starting. Watch for the sale announcement for your child’s campus.

Watch for announcements about a weekend afternoon (2nd Street’s is usually Sunday afternoon before Day 1 of the school year, Cooper’s is the week prior – but that pattern is still being established, so watch for the announcement.)

We do ask that you attend just your campus event, so we can give everyone a chance to purchase. The stock goes quickly!

How to buy

All items are laid out in a big space (like the Multi-Purpose Room or MPR) on tables for families to shop. The sale is scheduled for a couple of hours, and generally we sell out FAST (within an hour or so).

  • Each item costs $5.00. No returns after the sale day.
  • You can pay with MySchoolBucks (our fee-paying system, but you can pay for the used uniforms even without an account), or cash. The online payment through MSB is definitely preferred!
  • Depending on our stock and the demand, we sometimes limit customers to a certain number of items to ensure we have something for all customers.
  • Bring your own bags, if you can!

How to help

There are a few main ways to help this effort.

  • Donate! The sales need stock, so that means bringing them in to the office!
  • Prep – There is a lot involved in sorting all the uniforms. This is our biggest laundry effort of the year!
  • Sell – On the day of the sale, there is some set up, helping families to check out, and then packing up whatever is left.

Email us at familyengagement@latinpcs.org to find out about how and when to help. We can put you in touch with the current PFA lead volunteers for this effort.
