Students in the upper school PLANET club attended a multi-sensory “forest bathing” trip in Rock Creek Park. The group did breathing exercises, examined some flora and fauna, and sat quietly by a spot where they could experience rocks and organisms and observe the forest ecosystem. After listening to the sounds of the forest, students wrote haiku, drew sketches of their surroundings, and lead each other blindfolded along a forest path to experience the forest without using their eyes. Students ended with a reading by John Muir on forests. The club is advised by Physics and AP Environmental Sciences teacher Mr. Torrence.
